      text: "Abbaye de chanoines réguliers de Saint-Augustin fondée en 1091 par Robert d'Arbrissel, consacrée le 25 avril 1098 sous les vocables de Notre-Dame et Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste. Elle fut la première abbaye de chanoines fondée dans la province de Tours, ce qui lui conféra une importance : environ 60 prieurés et paroisses en relevaient. La guerre de Cent Ans, puis la commende, la ruinèrent, mais elle fut réformée par son adhésion à la Congrégation de France le 22 août 1664. Fermée à la Révolution. L'abbatiale est devenue église paroissiale, l'abbaye, restaurée, un lieu d'exposition"
