En 1780, Carl Deichman (1705-1780) lègue sa collection de livres à la ville de Christiania (aujourd'hui Oslo). - Le 12 janvier 1785, la "Deichmanske bibliothek" ouvre ses portes. - En janvier 2018, "Deichmanske bibliotek" prend le nom de "Deichman". - "Deichman" désigne aujourd'hui un réseau de bibliothèques publiques, dont la bibliothèque principale est la "Deichman Bjørvika"
