NoteBorn at Pullocks Manor, Ropsley, near Grantham, Lincolnshire. He might have started studying at Oxford, and moved to Cambridge to avoid a plague. Elected chancellor of Cambridge University in 1498–9, Fox was master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, from 1507 to (probably) 1516 (ODBN). In 1511 started buying land in Oxford for the foundation of a new college.
