Altre informazioniJames Tregaskis (1850-1926) apprenticed as a printer and joined his uncle's firm, Blenkinsop & Co., as a master printer and then partner, until a serious injury in 1889. In 1890, he joined the bookselling firm his wife Mary Lee [Bennett] (1854?-1900) had inherited from her first husband in 1886, and they traded as "James & Mary Lee Tregaskis" (or "J. & M. L. Tregaskis"). After her sudden death in 1900, he dropped her name, and continued the business under his name alone (though calling it “The Caxton Head” in catalogues). In 1915 the shop moved from 232 High Holborn, where it had been since 1886 (under Bennett), to 66 Great Russell, where it stayed until its closure, in 1939. Hugh Tregaskis (1905-1983), second son of James, joined the business in 1920, aged fifteen, at which time the name of the business became James Tregaskis & Son. James Tregaskis became the fourth ABA president, in 1910.
