NoteThe foundation of the Biblioteca Augusta was based on the donation of the library of Prospero Podiani, formally accepted in 1582; between 1582 and 1615 the collection was hosted in the 'Palazzo pubblico' (Palazzo dei Priori, in Perugia) but still under Podiani's control. The city government took possession of the library in 1615 after Podiani's death; a new place was arranged so as to host the collections and the library was officially open in 1623 (see: G.
