weitere InformationIn 1812 Robert Harding Evans orchestrated the sale of the library of John Ker, Duke of Roxburghe (1740–1804). In 1828 he brokered the sale of Renouard's collection. Last recorded sale with his name alone in 1838. From at least 1840, he was joined in partnership with his sons, Thomas and Charles, and from 1840 the catalogues bear the firm name “Messrs. Evans” and the prefatory matter is routinely signed “R.H., T. and C. Evans". The firm was bankrupt in 1846, but began trading again a year or two later, according to the ODNB article [from J. Lancaster].
