NoteBusiness man: managing director of a cable-making firm with factories in London and Belfast. After more than 25 years, spent in collecting bookbindings, Davis decided to donate the bulk of his collection to the Nation and a settlement was signed on 1968 to form a trust to hold the collection for the British Museum, and since 1973 for the British Library. While the outstanding collection of bookbinding was donated to the British Museum, a smaller collection of early printed books (about 190 items) was given to the newly founded University of Ulster in Coleraine; the collection included 57 incunabula (M.M.
