Other InformationThe Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Thyeateira and Great Britain (1968-1979), Athenagoras was born Theodoros Kokkinakis in Patmos in 1912. He graduated from the Theological School of Halki in 1934. He served as a deacon in the Patriarchate of Alexandria and as a deacon, a priest and a titular bishop in the Archdiocese of America. In 1963 he was selected bishop of Thyateira and Great Britain and in 1968 he was promoted to Archbishop. He died in London in September of 1979.
