Other InformationOne of the most important libraries of Eastern Christianity. It belongs to the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St. John, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded in 1088 on the island of Patmos.
The library houses more than 1,200 manuscripts, over 13,000 archival documents and some 3,000 early printed books. Its new building, redesigned and reorganized by Konstantinos Staikos, was inaugurated in 1988.
