Other InformationWalther Adam was an industrial and art collector. His father, Carl Wilhelm Adam, collected objects from the mining industry and (pre)historical objects. Walther continued this collection and opened a museum in Staßfurt in 1907, where his collection of physical and historical objects was exhibited. His collection focused more and more on cultural history and humanities. In 1934, his collection of books, documents and coins was exhibited, in an exhibition titled 'Kulturhistorische Sammlung der Familie Adam'. During the Second World War, Adam's cousin Carl Wilhelm Adam hid this part of the collection, and in 1962 Walther gave the collection in consignment of the city of Goslar (under the title: 'Kulturhistorische Sammlung zur deutschen und europäischen Geschichte [Sammlung Adam]). Adam became honorary citizen of the city of Staßfurt and of Goslar. Afther he died, his cousin Carl Wilhelm Adam took over the collection. In 1979 the collection was abandoned. Between 1980 and 1982, the collection was auctioned. See: https://rkd.nl/nl/explore/artists/439131
