Altre informazioniThe Weesp collection contains manuscripts, incunables and early printed books from the monasteries of St. John and St. Mary and the Great or St. Laurens Church.
With the Reformation, the books of the monasteries of St. John and St. Mary were transferred to the Great or St. Laurens Church in Weesp. The books are not mentioned until a meeting of the churchwardens on 15th february 1645 concerning the decision to sell some of the books. Most likely some books were sold; eleven manuscripts were later found outside Weesp. On 12th december 1646 the remaining books were stored in the St. Laurens Church. Here the books were rediscovered in 1837 by F.H.G. Iterson, the minister. The collection was donated from the Churchwardens of Weesp to the KB in 1847, through mediation of F.H.G. Iterson. The provenace of some incunables of the Weesp Collection can be traced back to one of the monastries because of the presence of inscriptions.
