Altre informazioniFloruit. From Fabrizio Quaglia: "[...] A.F. Enriques, ma talvolta sembra più Enriquez (un cognome che mi fa pensare a un convertito di una famiglia di più o meno lontana origine sefardita), [...] espurgò (come da evidenza cartacea ma purtroppo non documentaria, a quanto ne so), solitamente senza intervenire sul testo, vari testi ebraici ad Urbino nel 1687 e 1689 e ad Alessandria nel 1688; in quest'ultimo caso però non sempre indicò il luogo.
From Fabrizio Quaglia [February 2023]: In 1687, Enriquez censored Hebrew texts also in Carpentras for the local archbishop (Marcello Durazzo, 1633-1710, who was in charge there from 10 November 1687 to 27 November 1690, see <https://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bduraz.html>), as shown by his partly cut off signature on a copy of rabbi David Qimḥi (1160-1235) ‘Sefer Miklol’ (‘Book of Completeness’), Venice 1545, now in Los Angeles, UCLA (YRL Special Collections Oversize* * Z233.I8 K46mi 1545), in which he named the town of Carpentras in Southern France [thanks are due to Courtney Jacobs, Head of Public Services, Outreach, and Community Engagement for Library Special Collections UCLA Library, for sending a photo of it], and the right side of f. 189v of an edition of the three first sections of ‘Mišneh Torah’ (lit. ‘Repetition of the Torah’) by Maimonides (1135-1204), printed in Mantua around 1589, treasured at the National Library of Israel (shelf number R 75 A, 296.53; digitally available at <https://www.nli.org.il/en/books/NNL_ALEPH001773414/NLI>), as well as a manuscript of liturgical prayers according to the rite of Carpentras dated 1656, owned by the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, Ms. 4746, folio 73v (available at <https://www.nli.org.il/en/manuscripts/NNL_ ALEPH000108766/NLI#$FL29025815>).
In the lower margin of MEI 02123479 an unidentified coat of arms, upside down. I traced the same oval stamp in black ink, perhaps 18th century, close to Enriques' signature, in other Hebrew manuscripts and printed books held in Italian and foreign libraries (Biblioteca del Congresso di Washington, Biblioteca di Stato di Berlino, Biblioteca di Stato Russa a Mosca, British Library, Columbia University di New York, Nazionale di Gerusalemme, Palatina di Parma, la John Rylands University Library di Manchester, la Olin Library della Washington University a St. Louis Missouri, e la Vaticana).
