Other InformationFrederick North was prime minister of Great Britain from 1770 to 1782. He represented Banbury in parliament from 1754 until 1790. In 1759 he was appointed lord of the Treasury, in 1766 Paymaster of the Forces, in 1767 Chancellor of the Exchequer, and in 1768 he became Leader of the Commons. In 1770 he became prime minister, which he stayed until his resignation in 1782, although he was still active in politics. In 1790 he succeeded his father Francis North as second earl of Guilford.
