Other InformationFrancis North, first earl of Guilford (1704-1790) was a British politician. In 1727 he was in the House of Commons for Banbury. On 17 October 1729 he succeeded his father as third Baron Guilford and inherited the family estate at Wroxton Abbey, Wroxton, Oxfordshire, and in January 1730 he took his seat in the House of Lords. In 1730 he was appointed as a gentleman of the bedchamber to Frederick, prince of Wales. In 1734 he succeeded his cousin William as seventh Baron North of Kirtling and in April 1752 he was created earl of Guilford. In 1773 he was appointed treasurer to Queen Charlotte. Source: G.F.R.
