Altre informazioniVaclovas Dargužas (from 1950-1951, Andreas Hofer) was born on 01/06/1920 in Voveriškiai, Lithuania (District of Šiauliai). After graduating from the Šiauliai Boys High School in 1940, he entered the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy. In 1944, he fled to the West. From 1945, he lived in Switzerland. He studied and worked at Berne University (1945-1949) and defended his doctoral thesis there on “The Effects of Cobalt on the Human Organism.”
From 1949, he made his living as a veterinarian. He established one of the most advanced veterinary clinics in Thun, Switzerland in 1957 and was its director until 1995. Dr. Dargužas was very interested in historic Lithuanian State documents, and put together a very valuable collection of 16th-20th c. cartographical materials from Lithuania and other countries, which he donated to the University of Vilnius in 1983.
