Other InformationBorn in Shropshire, he had extensive interests in the coal and iron industries. MP for Ludlow. Had houses in Shropshire, Northamptonshire (Norton Hall) and London, where he died. "His collection, primarily of early printed and colour plate books, often in sumptuous bindings, passed on his death to the Thynne family (Marquesses of Bath), with whom he claimed relationship on no very compelling grounds." (ODNB). The incunabula mostly remained at Longleat until sales at Christie's, London, 30 March 1994 and 13 June 2002.
