weitere InformationClement Barksdale was a Church of England clergyman and author. He lived and worked in the Cotswolds and in Oxford. He published over thirty books including translations, collections of biographies and sayings, a volume of his own poetry, several of his own sermons, and a few other short books. AnmerkungBarksdale matriculated at Merton College, Oxford, in February 1626. However, shortly after this he transferred to Gloucester Hall (later Worcester College), and graduated BA in October 1629 and proceeded MA in 1632. After being ordained Barksdale acted for a short time in 1637 as chaplain of Lincoln College at All Saints' Church, Oxford.

AnmerkungA firm royalist, Barksdale remained in his position as rector until the parliamentary forces occupied Hereford in 1646. At this time the Chandos family, who employed Barksdale as a chaplain, enabled him to take shelter in Sudeley Castle, not far from his birthplace.
