Born Charles Thomas; added the hyphenated "Stanford" upon marriage to the heiress Ellen Stanford. Created baronet in 1929. Some of his incunabula were included with other works in a sale at Sotheby, 6 March 1913 (lots 429-494). [Catalogue reproduced by Google Books, the first in a group of Sotheby catalogues at https://books.google.com/books?id=4JRMAQAAMAAJ] Sold his remaining incunabula en bloc to A.S.W. Rosenbach in 1924, whence they were quoted to Henry Huntington.
