weitere InformationVan der Aa was a publisher, bookseller and writer of mostly political and historical books and pamphlets. Van der Aa started working in Leiden, but after one year he moved to Haarlem, where he continued to work as a bookseller. In 1788 he founded the booksellers guild of Haarlem. Van der Aa lived and worked in Leiden, but he was convicted to work at a house of correction and was banished from the provencies Holland and West-Friesland for five years, because he printed and sold books that stated his politcal beliefs. After he completed his sentence, Van der Aa moved to Utrecht because of his banishment from the provinces Holland and West-Friesland. He continued his work as a bookseller over there. In 1807 Van der Aa gave up his job as a bookseller and moved to Amsterdam, where he passed away in 1815. See NNBW I, 1937, p. 3.
