Other InformationThe library was founded in 1714 when scholar Antonio Magliabechi bequeathed his entire collection of books, encompassing approximately 30,000 volumes, to the city of Florence.
In 1783 the Magliabechiana received many printed books, among which incunables, from the Laurenziana Library.
Renamed Biblioteca Nazionale in 1861, after a reorganisation of the public libraries of Florence, it forms one of its main cores.
