Altre informazioniA brief history of the library's vicissitudes is given in the introduction to the Sotheby's sale catalogue "Incunabula from the Court Library at Donaueschingen, sold by order of His Serene Highness Joachim Prince zu Fürstenberg" (1 July 1994, London; catalogue by Paul Needham). The foundation was the collection of Wolfgang, Graf Fürstenberg (1465-1509); major growth occurred in the late 18th-early 19th century, and then in 1855 by acquisition of the library of Baron Joseph von Lassberg (1770-1855). [John Lancaster, from Sotheby catalogue]. 326 incunabula are listed in the 1994 Sotheby's catalog for the sale of the collection.
An oval stamp of ownership for the Donaueschingen Library is mentioned in the same auction catalog in the description of Lot 6 [Melissa Robohn]
