He was  judge in the Nuremberg courts, and he merried twice: in 1618 (with Maria Pfinzing, who died in 1637); in 1639  with the widow Dorothea Beck (Johann Gottfried Biedermann, 'Geschlechtsregister des Hochadelichen Patriciats zu Nürnberg' (1748), table CCXXXIX; Peter Fleischmann, 'Rat und Patriziat in Nürnberg' (2012)). H. H. Imhoff is known as the one who sold what remained of the most complete collection of Dürer works (already part of the Pirckheimer's collection). In the second quarter of the seventeenth century he started a 'Geheimbüchlein' (the 'secret book') of the Imhoff collection, a document which is unique in the history of collecting Dürer. 'In contrast to his predecessors, Hans Hieronymus Imhoff was eager to sell the remainder of the collection at any cost' (Bubenik, Reframing Dürer, 2013, p. 48). The dispersal of Pirckheimer Library had already begun (1634) but the bulk of the collection was purchased in 1636 by Lord Arundel (q.v.). [Created by A.
