A reader inserts on the inner front cover an anecdote about Socrates extracted from Book III of Erasmus’ "Apophthegmata": "Salutantibus non redens salus qui ✝✝✝ Quidam Socrate salutatus non resalutavit, sed hoc nequaquam moleste tulit Socrates. Amicis autem a admirantibus et ob hominis incivilitatem indignatibus, dixit: 'Si quis nos preteriret pejus corpore, quam nos sumus, nequequam illi succenseremus, cur igitur illi succenseam qui pejus affectus est animo nos sumus?'"

On the front flyleaf a reader writes verses from an unidentified poem:
"Germani respendent Italo ut Gallo ad hos tribus.
Germani cunctos possunt perferre labores
O vitam possent sine bene ferre sitim ?
R(esponsio) Ut nos dulce merum sic vos Venus improba vexat
Lex posita est veneri Julia nulla mero
Germani sitiunt vinum, tuque improbe Gallo
Perfidiam, litem, desidiumque sitis."

He continues by writing another five verses, this time from Ausonius, "Ex Eodem", Book XVII:
"Gratia ingrata/Gratia, quae tarda est, ingrata est. Gratia namque/cum fieri properat, gratia grata magis./Si bene quid facias, facias cito. Nam cito factum/gratum erit. ingratum gratia tarda facit."

Three successive readers wrote on the verso of the front flyleaf in the following order:
I. "✝✝✝ nos nomenque tuum, laudesque manebunt" (black ink)
II. Michael Szathmari(nus) (dark brown ink).
III. "Liber oppido rarus sive rarissimus, circa A(nno) 1478 impressus" (light brown ink)
