Bibliographic Evidence
NoteTieck and Nagler were certainly acquaintances as they were both members of the Preußische Akademie der Künste. The Dante may have been a gift or bequest from Nagler, however more research is needed to better understand this. In the 1830s many of Nagler's books were soon purchased by the Berlin Königliche Bibliothek and the Library of the Königlichen Museen zu Berlin. Nagler's copy of the 1481 Dante (MEI no. 02141599) is currently at the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin.
