Foot of 1st leaf (bearing inscription?) has been cut off; inscription at head of 1st leaf "In usum FF. Staingadensiu[m] [SC?] Empt[us] [Anno 1?]649"; another note at end in red ink "Finis [...?] Marx Byirer[?]; pencilled note on front free endpaper "Chas Gregory Bath Sept. 1906". Sixteenth century German pigskin binding blind tooled with medallions, allegories and floral borders; remains of 2 clasps; "841." inscribed at foot of spine and "I. de Voragine Sermones dominical[es] 1484" at head of spine in different inks; edges painted in green; repaired; in a tailored box.
