NoteRepaired. 2 decorated initials (10 lines) in blue, red, and gold punched with dots, flowers and a sunburst, on leaf a4; the 1st initial has been painted as a "C" instead of an "E"; 13 other initials (8 and 9 lines) have been provided in red or blue at the beginning of each remaining book. A few manuscript notes with corrections in text and some manicules in brown ink. Inscription in brown ink on title page, defaced, illegible; pencilled notes on front flyleaves referring to the Sotheby sales of Thomas Shadford Walker (no. 153 in the sale catalog of his library, June 1886), of Richard Dacre Archer-Hind (no. 359 in the sale catalog of his library, Dec. 1910), and a note "Gennadius copy" (no. 1174 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his library, March 1895). Bookplate of W.T. Smedley. Purchased in 1924.
