noteBookplate on the recto of the first flyleaf: "Mills College, Albert M. Bender Collection".
Although his bookplate appears in the book, Bender never owned this volume. He was a great benefactor to Mills College and there is a named collection for him in special collections. This bookplate simply denotes that this book became part of the “Bender Collection” at some point after it was given to the college by Aurelia Reinhardt.
