Decoration NoteOn leaf [5] recto, two painted shields bearing respectively the arms of the monastery (St George's cross) and of the abbot Caspar Augsburger (a watering-can), Abbot of St Georgenberg (1469-91).
Initial 'S' on leaf [a1] recto is in gold, with red and green foliate flourishes extending into the margins (the colours used here match those used in the coats of arms at the foot of this page).

Binding note15th/early 16th century calf binding over wooden boards. Blind tooled triple fillets form concentric frames to covers. On the upper cover, triple fillets create a diaper design in the central panel, each lozenge containing either a lozenge shaped stamp double-headed eagle, or a rosette. With a second rosette stamp and a palmette stamp, in the inner frame of the upper cover. Rebacked. Two fore-edge clasps with square engraved metal catches and catch-plates (on upper cover). Five brass bosses on each cover. Paper manuscript title label at head of upper cover, with an additional label below with '"BII" (shelfmark?) in red ink.
