Binding noteBinding by Marcellin Lortic (1852-1928), of Lortic Frères, signed 'M. Lortic' on the upper turn-in. Dark olive-green Morocco, gilt-tooled edges and turn-ins, with the characteristic turn-in gilt roll design that incorporates the initials of the owner ('VM'), bordure in red Morocco, with the armorial supralibros in gilt at the centre, in the Ducal variant that was in use before the acquisition of the title of Prince d'Essling. VM monogram on the spine. Binding dated 1905.
