Description of Copy

Copy Id02125823
Holding InstitutionRoma, Biblioteca Casanatense (IT)
ShelfmarkVOL INC.676
Copy HistoryFormerly bound in a composite volume with Alexander Aphrodisiensis, Problemata. This was probably a copy of the edition printed in Venice, 1501 (on ISTC: ia00387500 ; on EDIT16: CNCE 1033): see Rome, Biblioteca Casanatense, VOL MISC.989 5.

The composite volume was already existing in the 17th century: the manuscript index of cardinal Girolamo Casanate's library describes Annius and Alexander as bound together (and with the same shelfmark, 'Y. X.': see Rome, Biblioteca Casanatense, Ms Cas 467/5, foll. 45v and 67r).
The composite volume was disbound after 1761: in fact, Annius still had the same shelfmark as Alexander Aphrodisiensis in the 18th century catalogue of the library ('Miscell. in fol.63': see G.B. Audiffredi, Bibliothecae Casanatensis Catalogus librorum typis impressorum, Roma 1761, vol. 1, pt. 1, pp. 104b and 207a).
The present binding of Annius was therefore done in the late 18th century (while Alexander was lately rebound in VOL MISC.989, a 19th century composite volume).
