NoteOn the bottom margin of e6v, in dark ink, now partly faded: 'De sera. D. Gregorius Papiensis me utitur'. ('Dominus Gregorius Papiensis'). The same hand seems responsible for a series of corrections both to the Greek and Latin texts; see for instance a8r, where the Greek word 'moi' is erased and corrected to 'toi', and the corresponding latin word 'mihi' is erased and corrected to 'tibi'. Another interlinear correction is found on g2v where the Latin word 'civitatem' is corrected to 'civitatum' in agreement with the Greek 'pólemon'.

The book was listed as lot 1 in the 1914 Pembroke auction catalogue (London, Sotheby's).
Binding noteFull red morocco or sheep, gilt border on both covers and gilt-tooled turn-ins; all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Black leather spine label with 'Aesop 1497' tooled in gold. Now kept in a red slip-off case with the signature 'Made by Riviere & Son'. On the spine of the case: 'Reggio D'Emilia 1497' and 'Pembroke copy'.
