Binding noteHalf white tanned skin over wooden boards tooled in blind by the binder Johannes II, active between 1478-1501 (EBDB w000124). Set of ‘thin-thick-thin’ lines forming a frame filled with two lozenge-shaped fleur-de-lys and lozenge-shaped flower stamps, stamp ‘Johannes’ below the frame on the front cover. Remnant of two clasps hanging on the lower cover. Plain edges. Contemporary paper pastedowns on which a fragment (parchment?) containing manuscript text has been pasted and two endleaves at the front cover only. Stamps nos. s010125, s010130 and s010131 (one lozenge-shaped flower stamps not recorded in EBDB). The identification of the binding has been provided by Scott Husby.
