noteThomas Howard purchased Pirckheimer's library in Nuremberg in 1636. Henry Howard, who inherited the library, presented it to the Royal Society in 1666/67. The donated collection is recalled in the stamp of the Royal Society as the Library of the Dukes of Norfolk (see below).
