Poynter, 'A catalogue of Incunabula in the Wellcome Historical Medical Library', London 1954, nr. 310, but the copy description doesn't match with the material features of the present incunabulum. Maybe a copy from the Dubecq collection (accession nr. 42218, bought on 10 Jan. 1923) was replaced by this one from the Medical Society, with no accession number and using the same shelfmark.

Decoration NoteFirst capital letter ('O', leaf a2r) supplied in blue ink with fine reddish purple work-pen. Initials supplied in red and blue alternately throughout the text. Hand-colored herbal woodcuts, showing a rather refined result.

Manuscript notesSeveral comments to 'De herbis' text, some in red ink, other in brown, by the same English hand, partially trimmed. Those in red ink often report the Greek name of the plant and/or the English one, followed by further latin explanation of some of its features. The brown notes are comments, lecture notes, extraction of key-words. The anonymous hand shows an excellent command of the Greek language as well as of the Latin (maybe a physician).
