noteThe Royal coat of arms, with the Initials of the King (G R III) is gold tooled on the cover. A list of reference works (opened by the name of Smith) is on the upper right corner of the third front flyleaf, by two hands. The latest hand also wrote, in pencil, a reference to the classified catalogue of the king (V7p100).

Oval stamps of the British Museum with reference to the George III Library (in use not before 1842: Harris 2009, p. 412), in dark orange ink, on title-page, on the verso of the last two printed leaves.
