Description de la reliure16th-century blind-stamped calf over wooden boards (rebacked), bound by the Carthusians at Wedderen, near Dülmen, Westphalia, displaying many of the stamps described by Goldschmidt, no. 165 and plate CV, but without the one of the Virgin and Child flanked by the letters “m l”; in the lower panel of the front cover are two heart-shaped stamps containing the letters “H” and “G,” in Goldschmidt’s opinion the initials of the monk who bound the volume; for a full-page color illustration of a similar binding, see pt. 2 of the Sotheby sale catalogue of George Dunn’s library, February 1914, no. 697; and for another Dülmen binding in the Harvard collection, see Walsh 430 (Goff R-164).
