NoteOn the front paste-down: 'Donadei Francisci'; the same hand (humanistic hand-writing) repeats the note with variants on the recto of the front flyleaf: 'Franciscus Donadeus S P D | Dicit Dicit Dominus Dompno | Franciscus Donadeus filius quondam domini Io. Ant.'. On the back paste-down there are some numbers and symbols that seem to have been written at the time, by another handwriting: '432 [l] 5 [s] 8 | 1 8'; maybe a note of price.

NotePrinted armorial bookplate with the arms of the Giustiniani family (on the left hand side) and the one of Corner (or Cornaro, on the right hand side). Most likely it refers to the marriage between Girolamo Ascanio Giustiniani and Cecilia Corner, whose wedding occurred in 1786.

NoteA letter from Tammaro De Marinis to Mr Ehrman (likely Albert Ehrman) is preserved with the book, sent from Rimini, on 3rd October 1954. In the letter De Marinis provides much information about when and how he had bought the book (at an auction in Zurich c.1934 after information by Mr Aeschlimann of Hoepli) and about a mistake that he had made in not recognizing the uniqueness of the copy: 'Cher Monsieur Ehrman rassurez-vous. T. De Marinis'. Likely he was referring to Henry Davis, well known as a collector of bindings.

NoteBesides the letter written to Mr [Albert] Ehrman by Tammaro De Marinis (see above) there is another letter to Mr Ehrman from H. Clifford Maggs, antiquarian bookseller; on 21 Apr 1953 he wrote to Mr [Albert] Ehrman to congratulate with him for the purchase, to give his opinion on the value of the book and on the watermark, so as to confirm the date of printing: 'I looked up this daisy(?)-flower watermark in Briquet and find the (apparently) closest variety (no 6601) was in use in Milan 1485 and Pavia 1487. No paper with any of the varieties is recorded as in use in Italy after 1490. This seems to confirm the colophon date alright'. On the right upper corner of the back paste-down there is an R followed by a symbol and an E, in green ink; this inscription corresponds to the recording of the book in the manuscript 'Catalogue of the Broxbourne Library first formed at Broxbourne, Herts, by Albert Ehrman' (Oxford, Bodleian Library), where this book is described in the first line of p. 47, under the year 1963.
