Binding noteLate 15th century Italian quarter brown goat skin with blind single-fillet decoration over beech-wood boards, slightly cushioned, sewn on four double-split alum-tawed skin bands, with head- and tail-bands over a leather core [tail-band missing], brown goat-skin spine guards pasted onto inner boards, upper free endpaper on parchment, four leaf-shaped brass catches at head-, tail- and fore-edge of upper board [one catch missing], and four grooves with three-nail holes [a couple of nails still in place] to accomodate four straps for clasps at head-, tail- and fore-edge of lower board [all straps and clasps missing]; manuscript title on paper spine label, Italy, 17th [?] century.
