AnmerkungInscribed 'Monasterij Ranshouen' on leaf a1 recto, late 16th [?] century, i.e. the Augustinian Monastery of S. Pancratius in Ranshofen / Ranshoven, near Braunau am Inn, Upper Austria, founded in 1125 and dissolved in 1811, whose library was transferred en bloc to Munich. Fragment of a oval blue library stamp, reading 'K / <...>adburg [?] / 145' pasted onto lower right corner of the inner side of the upper board. Marked '540' and priced '8/8/' and '/7/u [?]' in pencil on leaf a1 recto, 19th century. John Couch Adams, Lowndean Professor of Astronomy, his bookplate pasted onto the inner side of the upper boards; his bequest to Cambridge University Library in 1892.
Beschreibung des EinbandsBlind-tooled quarter pigskin over beech-wood boards, sewn on two double-split alum-tawed skin spine bands, with fragments from 14th- and 15th-century parchment manuscript fragments used as gutter guards at centre of gatherings, lettered copper-alloy catch at centre of fore-edge of upper board and decorated rectangular copper-alloy plaquette holding stub of pigskin and brown leather fastening strap and clasp [wanting] at centre of fore-edge of lower board, and trace of paper title label on upper board, Austria, Ranshofen [?], late 15th or early 16th century.
Anmerkung zur AusgestaltungRed initials with penwork decoration in red on leaf a4 recto, initials, paragraph marks and highlighting of printed capitals in red throughout, all supplied by hand, Austria [?], late 15th or early 16th century.
Handschr. EintragungenMarginal manuscript nota signs, including maniculae, and annotations in cursive Gothic hands in black and red ink (see leaves p7 verso - p8 verso), Austria, late 15th or early 16th century.
