Binding noteBoards of beech wood, slightly cushioned, with grooves to accomodate two spine bands and core of head- and tail-bands, nail-holes for missing triangular catch at fore-edge of upper board and groove with three nail-holes to accomodate the missing fastening strap for the clasp at fore-edge of lower board, Italy, late 15th century; detached from the book and preserved in its box together with photograph of the original spine bands and sewing structure. Half brown morocco and marbled paper over pasteboards, England, Cambridge, 20th century.
