ProvenienznameNijhoff, Martinus (1826-1894), 1826 - 1894 bookseller from 1853; Noblestraat 18, The Hague; sale prices: catalogue 293, no. 2115 was bought for Fl 100; see Library Bills 5 Oct. 1899; catalogue 293, no. 2411 was bought for Fl 100; see Library Bills 5 Oct. 1899; catalogue 295, no. 506 was bought for Fl 85; see Library Bills 12 Dec. 1899; catalogue 293, no. 558 was bought for Fl 60; see Library Bills 12 Dec. 1899; catalogue 304 no. 996 was bought for Fl 100; 304 no. 999 was bought for Fl 65; see Library Bills 15 May 1901.
AnmerkungPurchased for Fl. 85 from Martinus Nijhoff, Catalogue 295 (1899), no. 506 'Salamanca'; see Library Bills, 12 Dec. 1899 [an almost identically worded entry appears in Catalogue 293 (1899), no. 2765, for what is clearly the same copy; it was not purchased from this catalogue (as Sheppard had assumed), because it is not listed on the Bodleian's 'Form for examination of booksellers' and sale-catalogues' which is pasted into the Library's copy of the sale catalogue); it would appear that this item did not sell in Catalogue 293, so was readvertised in Catalogue 295, from which it was purchased by the Library.
